There’s An App for Everything
by Journey to Health Program Director, Becky Anderson
When I say there’s an app for everything, I 100% mean it. There’s an app called “Nothing,” and that’s exactly what it is. Nothing. When you open it, it is a blank screen. The description is “a portal into the void.” It has over 100,000 downloads.
Another is called “Watching Grass Grow.” Download this app and you can check in periodically on the progress of virtual blades of grass slowly lengthening.
One I have to include is called “Yo.” This app will send your friends the word “Yo.” That’s it; no other messages are possible. Funniest part—people paid for it. It raised over $1 million!!!
“Ghost Radar” is an app that claims to pick up on electromagnetic anomalies in your surroundings that could indicate a ghostly presence. Hours of fun for amateur ghost hunters.
My HS son would love the app called “Useless button.” This app presents you with a button on the screen. When you press it, it emits a fart sound. Press it repeatedly and be treated to a symphony of farts in a variety of tones and textures.
I could go on and on and on for pages and pages of apps such as this, but my point of this message is to search and find an app that can assist you on this journey to a healthier life. In the realm of health and wellness, there are THOUSANDS of apps. Like the ones mentioned above, some are a waste of your time and money; but there are some that would be very useful.
Find an app that can help you track your caloric intake such as My Fitness Pal. In this app the New Direction products that we use in JTH are already built in.
Find an app that can help you track your exercise, your water intake, your emotional responses to food, communicate with your support team, find healthy options when dining out. WHATEVER you can find that you know would help you, use it!!!
Now, if you decide to download and use an app I found called “Smell Dating,” we need to talk. (It’s a real app; look it up.)
If you have any questions about apps, or if you have used one that you found to be particularly helpful, shoot me an email. I would love to hear about it.
